Currently the speaker is very quiet, and i'm wondering how to raise it. It also crossed my mind that if it is made louder in the future, perhaps someone might want to lower it! Thank you.
It seems to be saying you can increase amplitude with... increased voltage? so, maybe, try attaching a 9 volt battery? I warn you, i don't really know what I'm talking about so you may fry your circuit 🍞

I will dig through my boxes of extra parts and find a potentiometer, maybe also a battery case for a 9v battery, then remake this circuit. I'll write in with how it goes.

Hi @Liz! A potentiometer just before the probe changes tone. And, for a higher volume you can substitute the piezo speaker with a minijack connector and plug the hole thing to a big speaker:
I also found recently that a more powerful battery makes it louder, which i guess i could've figured out from the comments above (lol) but, just to say simply, use a 9v battery for louder sound! 😆 📢
I'm not sure about this one... but maybe we could look on the web for "increasing amplitude of 555 circuit"?

that page does say that:
Being that we are using a 555 timer chip, the maximum voltage that a 555 timer can withstand is 18V.

Also if you have a resistor you could test the idea bc a potentiometer is an adjustable resistor, if that's helpful.
