Small Ac generator using a single neodymium sphere

Electric generators are devices that use alternating magnetic fields to create a current through a wire circuit. While full scale models can be complex and expensive to build, you can create a simple electric generator easily using a single neodymium magnet sphere, a coil iron -less form a syncronous motor (230 V) - inside A4 laminators, microwawes turntables motor, a small Dc motor 3 V - 5V - inside electric toys, a screw pot metal case and a Li - Po Battery. This even works well to teach electromagnetic properties, or display as a science project.

Adding a rectifier ( Ac to DC ) - Dc output voltage ( optional )

Tested led bulbs 230 V 3 W - 9 W all our tests http://sciencetoolbar.com

1. 3V Dc motor -- inside toys which using two batteries 1.5 V AA

2. coil without core inside syncronous motor 230 V -- A4 laminators, microwave turntable motor - remove the core inside the motor

3. neodymium magnet sphere 13 mm

4. neodymium screw pot metal case 13 mm -- remove neodymium magnet from the metal case -- simple generator component

5. plastic connector used to fix screw pot metal case -- dc motor ax inside car toys -- heat the crew pot metal case to fix the plastic connector -- simple generator component plastic connector used to fix the screw por metal case to dc motor ax

6. plastic and metal components from mechanical construction kit -- used to build the holder for dc motor and coil -- simple generator holder construction kit

7. 3.7 V battery 600 mAh - minidrone or a related battery 3,7 V rechargeable battery

8. 230 V - led bulbs 230 V E 27 3 W - 9 W

9. power switch + wires

Improving the efficency of the small prototype layout :

Instead Li - Po Battery - mini solar panels

eliminate the DC motor, using an additional a coil ironless, a reed switch placed near the additional coil and a neodymium sphere ( a pulse motor ) .

Hi! This is a really lovely activity. Would you be able to add a bit of description at the top so that people know why they would want to undertake this activity? At the end, it would be helpful to describe how someone would know that what they built is working. Thank you!

  1. educational purpose : small, simple & powerfull layout of an AC electric generator.....
  2. the prototype eficency can be improved : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq4QKS-DQMY keeping just the working principle..... INPUT : DC ( SOLAR PANLES) instead Li-PO Battery we eliminate the DC motor.... Output : DC ( rectifier ) thx ST
