This week in the Public Lab community newsletter, get ready for a packed month ahead with several events happening from Vancouver to New Orleans. As a reminder, the February Open Hour will feature the topic of lending libraries, creating a centralized location for equipment to be borrowed and shared. Please join on February 2nd at 1pm est. Announcements

The new version of our Desktop Spectrometer 3.0 will be released and available for delivery next week.

Open Source Bridge 2015 in Portland, OR is coming soon! Open Source Bridge is an annual conference focused on building open source communities and citizenship through four days of technical talks, hacking sessions, and collaboration opportunities. Upcoming events

Water Quality Meetup: Saturday, January 24th, 1:00pm in New Orleans. Meet us at Propeller at 1:00pm. We’ll visit Bayou St. John’s Scenic Waterway, collect samples, do pole mapping and work with the DIY water quality tools.

Join Public Lab organizer and Fulbright-Nat Geo researcher Ann Chen on Saturday, January 31st (11 am to 3 pm) at Ecotrust (90-425 Carrall Street, Vancouver, BC) at The AMP for a training on DIY aerial photography and mapping. You’ll be mapping Crab Park on the Burrard Inlet. RSVP here.

Mapping Training: Saturday February 21st, 11:00-4:30pm in New Orleans at the Rosa F. Keller Library 4300 South Broad Street. Want to learn how to do DIY aerial photography?
