Look forward to seeing you at Public Lab’s 10th Annual Barnraising in Florida on November 11-13, 2022!

About:

Florida is the stolen ancestral and traditional territories of the Seminole and Miccosukee Native peoples, lands and cultures built by enslaved African peoples, and home to immigrant and refugee communities from around the world.

Florida is a prime example of compounding environmental effects that range from rising temperatures, stronger hurricanes and storm systems, red tide, destruction of coastal and marine environments, and rising level of mosquito populations and mosquito-borne illnesses. Historical social inequalities like environmental racism, transphobic legislation, climate displacement, and the ongoing housing crisis continue to exacerbate the impacts of climate change on exploited and marginalized communities.

Through the practice of community science, Public Lab’s 2022 Florida Barnraising seeks to contribute to ongoing community efforts by the many and diverse social movements in Florida combating these injustices to protect people and the planet.

Join us November 11-13th for our 10th annual Barnraising in Florida. Currently we are planning for the Barnraising in Miami, but are considering alternative locations in Florida. Updates and final announcements will be made here and sent via email if you submit an Expression of Interest Form.

Acknowledging the COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing, health and safety protocols will be in place to ensure participants gather safety during this in-person event.

If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Suarez at michelle@publiclab.org.
