[Open-weather][1] (@sophied and @sashae) would like to invite anyone with an interest in decoding images from NOAA satellites to contribute to a global weather 'nowcast' on Sunday September 6th. If you have tried the [DIY Satellite Ground Station Guide][2] (@nearsys @midmarsh @zwettstein @usere6020 ...) or if you arrived at NOAA satellite decoding by other means, please consider contributing! All contributions will be fully attributed. The result will be a collective map of weather-systems that none of us could have made alone. The weather 'nowcast' will be shared and presented in the [OurNetworks][3] festival (September 8-15) as part of an effort to activate networks of weather-monitoring and environmental sensing worldwide. @sophied and @sashae will do a live presentation and demonstration of the nowcast on September 12th at 2:30pm -3:30pm UTC-4 (ET). @sophied and @sashae 's objectives for the weather 'nowcast' are: - Sharing the brand new open-weather archive and platform with the OurNetworks community. - Imagining what a feminist, open source method of weather sensing, nowcasting and forecasting might look like. In doing so, questioning the power hierarchies and smooth aesthetics embedded in institutional meteorology and climate science. - Exchanging ideas with Our Networks participants for mutual aid and participation across networks. - Making concrete tools, resources and guides for radio-based weather sensing available to the OurNetworks festival participants and audiences. To contribute: - Please record / decode a NOAA satellite pass on **Sunday September 6th** (wherever you are in the world) - Please submit some basic details and your recordings (along with any other information you wish to share) to the public open-weather archive by using this simple form.
