This lists public events related to Public Lab. To submit an event, email [organizers@publiclab.org](mailto:organizers@publiclab.org) The Public Lab nonprofit supports four types of events: **Annual Barnraising** _Held in Louisiana during the Fall of each year_ This is the closest thing we have to a Public Lab conference -- but with an emphasis on "doing stuff together" rather than just presenting/talking. In the spirit of bringing a community together to collectively raise a structure such as a barn, Public Lab comes together to develop tools, toolkits, supporting materials such as guides and tutorials, test the tools and develop new research directions and projects. Participants represent a wide range of interests from technologists and designers to social scientists and community organizers. Information on the 2013 barnraising can be found here: http://publiclab.org/wiki/barnraising-2013. **Tool and Technique Barnraising** _New in 2014, held in different locations during the Spring of each year_ The Spring barnraising focuses specifically on the development of techniques and methods around a tool or issue. The 2014 Spring barnraising will be held in Massachusetts, but we encourage people to reach out to us with ideas about future topics/locations for Spring barnraisings. **Toolshed Raisings** Toolshed raising are regional mini, one-two day gatherings where Public Labbers come together to work on an immediate research question around a particular tool. **Workshops and field sessions** Workshops and field sessions happen in the duration of a half day or full day period and typically focus in on working on a specific tool or place of interest that has been identified by a community partner and/or Public Lab organizer.
