Illustrating Infragram Point & Shoot Instructions

by mathew | May 10, 2014 00:29 10 May 00:29 | #10460 | #10460

What I want to do

Use Sketchup models of the Mobius action cam to illustrate instructions on its use. The existing instructions are hard to read and could use illustrations. They also rely on pages in the RC Groups Forums. I want to make a single document of instructions.

My attempt and results

I found Henrik Sandaker Palm's Mobius Sketchup model on Grabcad, contacted Henrik to see if he was ok with me using it (he was!) and modified it to add the buttons and re-uploaded it.. the files are also attached below.

I then wanted a clean vector image showing the ports and buttons, so I exported a PNG file from Sketchup 2014 Make and traced it in Illustrator to make an SVG. I wish I could just render a good looking file out of "Make" but can't seem to. that's what you see above. I'm going to repeat the process for other views I need to get the line art I want. rear_view.png.svg

Questions and next steps

I'm going to start re-writing the Mobius manual so it 1) prints & photocopies easily and 2) is easy to read.

How do I actually make nice renderings from Sketchup 2014 Make?

Hey Mathew... I can't seem to get the custom white balance running with either white balance=7 or 8. Do you have suggestions for troubleshooting?

We should make a FAQ section of the wiki page. I should.

Also, animated gifts of the different steps would be so rad.

I received the kickstarter camera today. It came with a micros adapter, but no card. Were we supposed to get a card with it? Is there a page other than this one with useable instructions for using the camera, what should be included, etc.?

Thanks, Andy

the card is in the camera, because we tested each one. your camera doesn't have a card in it?

Thanks for the response, Matthew.

No… slot is empty Looked through the box several times. Definitely nowhere to be found.
