Buggy spectral meter? Galaxy S7...

by sirkubax | almost 8 years ago | 5 | 0

I've just build the tool from the kit that I've ordered.

  1. How to choose the rear camera on Galaxy S7 (Chrome browser)

  2. Why the image is so small, I did not find a way to enhance it, or it was unintuitive.

  3. The capture did start to work for a second, but then it did refuse to work anymore, probably I'd have to close the browser, I'll try later.

  4. Note - the tape or the box is conductive :/ my screen was constantly interrupted, I had to use small post it - so annoying - why did you even thought of using front camera.... ?

  5. I did try to point the spectrometer at the LED light, and the Ikea Vaxer light - so much noise on the screen... Why? Is the gap to wide (I did use sharp knife as gap-meter - suppose it is 0.3-0.5mm wide....)

Any thoughts? I'm kind of upset now - it supposed to work, but it seems like an alpha version... I know it is an open project, and I'd love it, but so many things failed to work in a row... It reminds me a linux 10 years ago - so buggy or intuitive...

How could I help you to debug this issue?

"Full Spectrum" grow LED Testing

by soheilkh | almost 8 years ago | 5 | 0

What I want to do or know

I'm testing a "Full Spectrum" grow LED with way more red LEDs than blue but I get a very strong blue which is stronger than red. I'm trying to find out why am I having this problem.

Background story

I'm using a customized spectrometer I made from scratch which is very similar to the "Desktop Spectrometry Kit" as for the housing and angles and grating (DVD). The camera I'm using is Microsoft LifeCam Cinema 720p Web Camera as my camera. I taped the DVD grating to the front of the camera. To clean the DVD I used dishwasher soap to clean the residue of the DVD blue hue. I calibrated my spectrometer with CFL light which seems to be accurate.

I used a white A4 paper that I put on top of the slit to overcome the overcompensation of the strong LED even without it the blue seems stronger. Any one know why or how can I

The LED has 240 epileds in total with the following colors: Red 168pcs, Blue 48pcs White 16pcs UV4pcs IR4pcs

Why copy calibration does not apply?

by aelobo | almost 8 years ago | 1 | 0

I have uploaded an image and calibrated it, then uploaded another image, and tried to use copy calibration on it. The calibrated image gets listed when searched for, by it's name, but after I apply it to the new image, nothing happens.

Thanks!

Intensity for spectra too low?

by chuynh451 | about 8 years ago | 4 | 0

I am a new user trying to make use of the mini-foldable spectrometer with my phone. The images I get have very bright lines and yet the intensity is labeled as 7% or lower. How do I get the intensity up?

Error on calibrating uploaded spectrum

by sarahcm | about 8 years ago | 9 | 0

When I try upload and calibrate a photo, I get an error message. I am then able to search for my photo which seems to have loaded in spite of the error message, but when I try to calibrate, the calibration won't load and I just perpetually get the spinning wheel of death (the loading symbol). thank you for any advice.
